CHRIS WATTS

TEASE!

Opening Friday 4th April 2025 6-8pm

4 - 26 April 2025

Chris Watts is a multidisciplinary artist and musician who's turning heads with his bold new collection of pop art. Inspired by the iconic style of Andy Warhol and the vibrant colours of the '70s, his work features larger-than-life acrylic paintings that blend nostalgia with modern expression. "I've been drawing since I was a kid. Give me a notepad, and bam - it's covered in sketches before you know it. Yes, I was that kid who drew on tables and bathroom walls at school. I can't help it. It's in my DNA," says Watts.

During COVID, stuck at home and unable to perform live music, Watts experienced an unexpected creative surge. "This kind of art has always been in me, but it was something I kept on the back burner while I was focusing on my music career. During that time, I finally gave it the attention it deserved and began painting”. This led to his first solo art exhibition and body of work, which sold out.

Since then, Watts has showcased his talent in numerous solo and group shows, further cementing his focus on visual art alongside his music. Watts's music career has also been a creative powerhouse, with multiple releases and career highlights, including opening for global icons Sir Elton John in Melbourne and Robbie Williams on tour. Now, with his largest art show to date, Watts presents his solo exhibition 'Tease' at Compendium Gallery.
