‘HOMAGE’

Step into the enchanting world of ‘HOMAGE’ an enthralling solo exhibition unveiling Andrew Farmer’s evolution of abstract reverie, inspired by the groundbreaking work of the late geometric abstract artist Josef Albers and his iconic ‘HOMAGE TO THE SQUARE’ series. With profound admiration for Albers; legacy, Andrew propels the square form into new frontiers, using tinted resin on mirrored aluminium to orchestrate an ethereal symphony of light, colour and introspection.

In ‘HOMAGE’ Andrew explores the timeless allure of the square, building upon Albers; original series, which spanned almost two decades from 1959 to 1976, and comprised of more than 2,000 works.

Albers, a prominent figure in the Bauhaus movement, is celebrated for his pioneering work in colour theory, exploring the optical effects of colour and form interactions in abstract compositions. With genuine reverence for Albers contributions to modern art, Andrew embraces the transformative medium of tinted resin on mirrored aluminium, breathing new life into squares. Each artwork becomes an enigmatic dance of vibrant hues and reflective surfaces, carrying forward Albers; exploration of colour relationships while charting a new and contemporary course. Andrew’s pieces beckon viewers into a harmonious dialogue between the dynamic interplay of colour and light within the resin and the mesmerizing reflections on the mirrored aluminium. The visual depth of each composition creates an immersive experience, inviting contemplation and introspection. The mirrors, ever the honest companions, reflect not only the artworks but also your own reflection, blurring the lines between the observer and the observed. In this intertwining of realities, you become an essential part of the art, completing the narrative that each piece seeks to convey.

Enjoy.
